Where's Waldo? In Seward!

Where’s Waldo?

In Seward, of course. The famous fellow in the striped shirt and black-rimmed specs is visiting 21 local businesses during the month of July. Anyone who spots him can receive discounts and win prizes that include Where's Waldo books, Seward Gift Certificates, jewelry, a free oil change, gift cards from participating businesses, and more. One lucky participant will win $100 in Seward Gift Certificates.

To participate in “Find Waldo in Seward,” pick up a Search List with the names of all participating businesses and collect a signature for each Waldo you spot. Search Lists are available in the Seward County Independent and at businesses with a “Find Waldo Here” sticker in their windows. Collecting signatures at 20 or more businesses will qualify you for entry in the grand prize drawing for $100 in Seward Gift Certificates and other prizes. Collect the signatures from ten businesses and pick up a Waldo button and coupon at Chapters.

Waldo was created by Martin Handford. Since 1987, the Where’s Waldo books have been translated into 18 languages, and there are over 55 million Waldo books in print worldwide.  In celebration of Waldo’s popularity, his American publisher, Candlewick Press, is teaming with the American Booksellers Association and 250 independent bookstores across the country, including Chapters Books & Gifts, to have fun and encourage people to visit and support local businesses.

There is no charge to participate, and the game lasts from July 1-31. Prize drawings will be held during the “Where’s Waldo in Seward” party at Chapters on July 31 at 4:00 p.m.  People of all ages are encouraged to participate and visit Seward’s fine business establishments.

Participating businesses are:  Allure Fashions, AWE Salon, Blue River Jewelry, Café on the Square, Cattle National Bank & Trust, Chapters Books & Gifts, Concordia University, Davisson Furniture Center, Heartland Park Senior Living, Heartspun Flowers & Events, Herpolsheimers, JD’s Coffee Shop, Jones Bank, Liberty House Bed & Breakfast, Movie Place Video,  Red Path Gallery, RG Investments, Second Closet, Seward County Independent, Suhr & Lichty Insurance, and The Udder Store/Weedy Creek Yarn.
